As the year comes to a close, we want to wish everyone a safe and joyful New Year’s Eve. While this is a time for celebration and togetherness, we want to remind you to please stay safe.
Here are some simple safety tips to remember this time of year:
Fire Safety:
- Make sure that candles are placed where they can’t be easily knocked over and keep them away from anything flammable.
- Avoid leaving space heaters, or cooking appliances unattended.
- Keep outdoor fire pits and grills a safe distance from structures and flammable items.
Party Safety:
- Ensure exits are clear and accessible in crowded spaces.
- Have non-alcoholic drink options available for guests who may need an alternative.
Fireworks:
- Remember that fireworks are not legal in O’Fallon unless it’s the 4th of July.
Driving:
- Use a designated driver, rideshare service, or taxi when the situation calls for it.
- Be cautious on the roads and watch for impaired drivers.
Pet Safety:
- Keep pets indoors to protect them when temperatures drop.
- If it’s typically noisy on New Year’s Eve where you are, create a calm environment for pets with soothing music or a quiet space.
Your safety is our top priority. Please look out for each other during this festive season.
